Anna and Joey
This year I got engaged and with the date is fast approaching, I have started working on my gold vermeil wedding jewelry. It has been difficult to decide just what it is I want to adorn myself with, on one of the most memorable days of my life. I want my jewelry to not only reflect myself, but also the theme and attitude of the event: relaxed, organic, playful. For my palette, I chose our warm gold vermeil coupled with forest greens, smoky browns, and champagne pearls. My challenge was to make something that was at once simple, and yet special and extra-ordinary.
I chose a simple gold ear wire with small granulation on the end that looks, to me, like a little bud about to bloom. From the earwire hangs a tiny vermeil half hammered circle link. A circle is a great classic design element as it helps to center and ground the eye. From the circle falls a cascade of minuscule burnt-orange tourmalines, button shaped champagne pearls, and warm, whiskey quartz briolettes.
To complete the look I made an accompanying necklace. Crafted from the same elements but interpreted in a different manner to keep the look fresh. The circle links sit right at the collar bone, with the pearls and tourmalines alternating between them. A small, but very secure gold vermeil clasp holds it all together. From this delicate clasp a smoky quartz briolette tear drop drapes down the back, a little extra flair.
What jewelry have you made for special events in your life?

My Wedding Jewelry

My Wedding Dress
Hi, congrats Anna, that dress and that jewelry set will be stunning on you!
I don’t wear a lot of jewelry myself, but I have been privileged to make jewelry for a few brides over the years. From cascading white coral branch pieces with white topaz earrings for a beach wedding to a tricky double-sided necklace (dangles on the front *and* the back), if there’s one thing for certain, is that brides want to look special on their special day.
I always tell brides that one thing (besides yourself) should be the focus when it comes to accessories — either a standout pair of earrings or a statement necklace, especially if you want a clean, classic look.
Best,
peggy

Thank you so much Peggy! I did look to your sight for ideas and inspiration actually! I totally loved your necklace with the dangle in the front AND back. It was great to see all the different variations of wedding jewelry you crafted and how each bride made it her own. So great. Thank you for the comment and the inspiration.
Warm Regards,
Anna
