Chakra Meanings


 

There are seven key chakras that have been recognized in yoga traditions and practices for many years. Chakras are energy points in the subtle body, rather than the physical body, and are located at major intersections of blood vessels and nerves.   The Crown Chakra is the 7th chakra, and is represented by the color violet. The crown chakra is located at the top of the head, and honors spirituality, development of the psyche, enlightenment, and unity.

 

 

  The Third Eye Chakra is the 6th chakra, and is represented by the color indigo. The third eye chakra is located in the center of the forehead, and honors psychic consciousness, wisdom, intuition, and the power of the mind.

 

 

  The Throat Chakra is the 5th chakra, and is represented by the color blue. The throat chakra is located right at the center of the throat, and honors communication, expression of creativity, and speaking the truth.

 

 

  The Heart Chakra is the 4th chakra, and is represented by the color green. The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest, and honors the heart, compassion, love, hope, and forgiveness.

 

 

  The Solar Plexus Chakra is the 3rd chakra, and is represented by the color yellow. The solar plexus chakra is located right above the naval, and honors the life force, self esteem, and confidence.

 

 

 

 

The Sacral Chakra is the 2nd chakra, and is represented by the color orange. The sacral chakra is located in the lower abdomen, and honors creativity, relationships, power, and procreation.

 

 

  The Root Chakra is the 1st chakra, and is represented by the color red. The root chakra is located at the base of the spine, and honors the earth, survival, family, controls fear, and helps with grounding.
